Individual exhibition of paintings in Spain
ANTONIO PEREZ MUSEUM IN CUENCA
https://fundacionantonioperez.com/index.php/es/home/exposiciones The presented series of works concerns the author's private life and proves that no one is free from imperfections and uncertainties. The artist uses art as a way to emphasize her fear, and defines the process of creation as an act of absorbing emotions. In this way, her work becomes very intimate and constitutes an attractive motivation for the viewer. In her works, reflections focus on the body as an object of artistic activity, at the level of creative physical transgression, circulating in search of answers to questions about the limits of body image and artistic freedom in the context of contemporary culture. Her art frees the visual sphere and the concept of art, beauty and aesthetics anew. The function of art should be interpreted here as a manifestation of what is not obvious, what is "subcutaneous", unclear and marginal. In the series of paintings presented, she uses legends and family stories to emphasize the tough fate of the women in her family during the war. Work on the painting lasts from a few sessions every few months to two years. Repainted many times, scratched, covered with 22-carat gold in resin, painted with earth from under the now-defunct houses of great-grandmothers and great-great-grandmothers, they become my company. ... "They are" silent beings "who keep me company."
Purpose
In the presented series, I refer to legends and family stories to emphasize the difficult fate of women in my family during the war. The aim of my vision is to reveal what is not obvious, "subcutaneous", unclear and marginal in the context of inspiration of the creative process. I am looking for a dialogue in contemporary art for newly designated areas within the unique topics of polka and the deeds of World War I and II.
The subject of the series of works
The presented series of works concerns the author's private life (the wartime fate of the family) and proves that no one is free from imperfections and uncertainties. The artist uses art as a way to emphasize her fear, and defines the process of creation as an act of absorbing emotions. In this way, her work becomes very intimate and is an attractive motivation for the viewer. In her works, reflections focus on the body as an object of artistic activity, at the level of creative physical and temporal transgression, circulating in search of answers to questions about the limits of the image of memory.
Period and place of the works
The painting material for the 2021 exhibition is created in 2018-2020 as a historical and poetic theme in Krakow. Works collected in the internet series: https://www.behance.net/gallery/101943571/2020-ART-ASTEPIEN
Painting process
In the course of work (2018-2020), the starting point is often to trace, at night, your own body on a horizontally laid canvas, about 3x3 meters. The artist lives alone with paintings, focusing totally on continuous and unlimited work.
Technique
The portfolio includes a never before presented series of approx. 40 painting works using a mixed technique (mostly) in dimensions from 20x20cm to approx. 400cmx400cm. Repeatedly repainted, scratched, and flooded with resin, they became her 24-hour company since 2018. The soil from Poland, where the women from the artist's family came, blended with 22 carat gold has also become a medium. (They have a conservation certificate.)
